Abstract:

A new analytical approach was developed involving magnetic solid–phase extraction and spectrofluorimetric determination of carvedilol in human plasma samples. A plasma sample was prepared and adjusted to pH 8.2–10, then carvedilol was quickly extracted using iron oxide magnetic nanoparticles modified by the surfactant cetyltrimethylammonium bromide and determined to apply spectrofluorimetry at 354 ± 3 nm after excitation at 241 ± 3 nm. Experimental conditions, such as the amount of nanoparticles and cetyltrimethylammonium bromide, pH value, standing time and desorption solvent type and volume have been adjusted to optimize the extraction process and to obtain analytical characteristics of the method. Linearity was observed in the analyte concentration range of 2.0–125 ng/mL with correlation coefficients (r) of 0.999. The method showed good precision and accuracy, with intra– and inter–assay precisions of less than 7.0% at all concentrations. Standard addition recovery tests were carried out, and the recoveries ranged from 94.4% to 100.7%. The limits of detection and quantification were found to be 0.67 and 2.24 ng/mL. The method was applied to the determination of carvedilol in human plasma samples.

Spectrophotometric Determination of Mefenamic Acid in Biological Samples Using Magnetic Iron Oxide Nanoparticles as a Sorbent for Solid Phase Extraction

This work investigates the potential of magnetic Fe3O4 nanoparticles as an adsorbent for separation and preconcentration of trace amounts of mefenamic acid in aquatic and biological samples, prior to spectrophotometric determination. The magnetic iron oxide nanoparticles (MIONs) were synthesized by mixing of ferrous and ferric chlorides. The possible parameters affecting the enrichment were opt...

Determination of Lead and Cadmium in Various Food Samples by Solid Phase Extraction Using a Novel Amino-Vinyl Functionalized Iron Oxide Magnetic Nanoparticles

A facile method for synthesis of amino functionalized silica coated Fe3O4 magnetic nanoparticles is introduced. For this purpose, the surface of magnetic nanoparticles (MNPs) was modified with two precursors of silica which produced amine and vinyl functional groups on the surface of magnetic nanoparticles. The modified magnetic nanoparticles were characterized by transmission electron micr...

Application of graphene oxide- magnetic nanoparticle for solid phase extraction of trace amounts of cadmium ions in environmental samples

Abstract In this work, Fe3O4-graphene oxide nanocomposite (GO-Fe3O4) was prepared as effective absorbent for magnetic solid phase extraction (MSPE) of trace quantities of cadmium ions in environmental water and rice samples using 1, 2-dihydroxy anthraquinone-3-sulphonic acid, sodium salt (Alizarin red S) and flame atomic absorption spectrometry (FAAS). The   GO-Fe3O4 was characterized by scanni...

The Spectrophotometric Determination of Nystatin in Real Samples Using Solid Phase Extraction Based on Sodium Dodecyl Sulphate-Coated Magnetite Nanoparticles

The purpose of this study was to separate and determine Nystatin in water, urine and plasma samples using a method based on sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) coated magnetic nanoparticles (nano-magnets Fe3O4) along with spectrophotometry which has been developed for to this end. Due to their excellent adsorption capacity and high chemical stability, nanoparticles can be modified by surfactants. The ...
